Six months old and ready for "solid" food!

It's hard to believe that Talulah is already six months old... Half a year... Wow...

She's such a funny girl, she makes us laugh every day and it's such a joy to have her in our lives. We couldn't even begin to describe how much we love her and how happy she makes us. Talulah is an amazing little person and she truly completes our family.

Turning six months old not only means that Talulah is growing up (too fast!) but it also means it's time for her to try solid food! March 25th was the first time Talulah tried something other than breastmilk and she did GREAT!

Here are many many many photos of Talulah's six month "birthday" and her introduction to rice cereal!

Talulah and I went to a Stars & Strollers movie (Duplicity). We played for a bit, then Talulah had a snooze and this is how we sat until the end of the movie.

After the movie we went grocery shopping!

Soooooooooo adorable.

"Hey Dad, look at me! I'm ready to try some solid food!"

"But Mom, there's stuff on that spoon."

Once she realized that the spoon was headed for her mouth, Talulah grabbed on with both hands and put it straight into her mouth!

"Do I like this? I'm still a little unsure."

"Yeah, I think I'm enjoying it!"

Gobble, gobble...

"Okay Mom, you can have one spoon and I'll have one spoon. Deal?"

Delicious!

Talulah's very good at helping.

Yummm!

Pre-grab...

Grab and munch!

Mmmmmm...

"This is really fun!"

"It's okay Mom, I'll hold that spoon for you!"

"Hey, why are you taking it away?!"

Still helping. Do you think she'll be an "I can do it myself" kind of kid? We think so...

Giving her Dad the ol' stink eye.

Mom and Dad both got a chance to feed Talulah!

"Dad, watch! If I help you it's much better!"

"Just let me grab it..."

Dad wanted to taste test the rice cereal. He wasn't a huge fan.

When Talulah was done eating, we let her experiment and play!

She likes experimenting and playing!

Dad gives her a loving rub on the head. Our little girl is growing up so fast...

"Thanks Mom and Dad! I can't wait to try again tomorrow!"

Talulah had rice cereal for the first three days. She did great with it so yesterday (Saturday, March 28th) she tried yams! She seemed to like them, despite all of the gagging. We'll try again tonight!

Mother's Day Run & Walk Fundraiser

Hello Everyone!

Donovan, Talulah and I will be participating in the 2009 Mother's Day Run & Walk put on by The Forzani Group Foundation in support of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Foothills Medical Centre, and the Special Care Nurseries at the Rockyview General Hospital and the Peter Lougheed Centre here in Calgary. This is a great fundraiser for an amazing cause.

Please see below for more details.

"For over 31 years, The Forzani Group Foundation has been supporting healthcare in our community. In that time more than $2.2 million has been raised, making a significant impact in the lives of many patients and families who access healthcare at our hospitals.

In 2008, $200,000 was raised and directed to children's health in support of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Foothills Medical Centre, and the Special Care Nurseries at the Rockyview General Hospital and the Peter Lougheed Centre.

In 2009, The Forzani Group Foundation will continue their commitment of supporting this very important area of children's health by purchasing hybred bed warmers, which can convert to an incubator, and provide easy access to perform procedures while mimimally disturbing the infant. Proceeds will also purchase Cardiac Monitors and Triple Channel intravenous pumps. The monitors will observe infants' vital signs, including heart rate and blood pressure which the pumps will allow staff to administer three separate fluids simultaneously through one pump.

This equipment will allow staff to continue delivering exceptional care to the special little patients in our Calgary hospitals."

If you would like to participate by registering for the event, please go to http://www.mdrunandwalk.com/ where you can register online and get more information.

If you would like to participate by making a donation, I would be happy to collect the donations on your behalf. Any donations of $20 and over will receive a tax receipt. If you would like to make a donation please click on the following link to visit my pledge page and make a secure online donation with your Visa or Mastercard. https://eventsonline.ca/cgi-bin/events/forzani_cal/pledge.pl?id=JME1277470

March 2009 (So Far)

Daddy and Talulah hangin' in the kitchen at Grandpa Bruce and Grandma Brenda's house!

Grandma Brenda, you're so funny!

"Normally I squirm and fuss in the sun, but look at me! I'm a happy little camper!"

Byron was turning away cause he's the only one without sunglasses. I'll have to go get hime some doggles.

See? Baby Bandz are a necessity... We need to protect Talulah's little eyeballs in this bright sun!

We got to test out Talulah's new sunglasses again, it was still pretty sunny when we took Byron for a walk!

We're ready to head out into the sunshine to go to our play group!

Talulah's such a cool little cat in her Baby Bandz.

"Here are my new sunglasses and sun hat... I'm so ready for summer to come!"

Okay, show's over...

Cute little tooth buds!

This is when they were first coming through... they're coming out fast so you can see even more of them now!

Look at my new teeth!

Forget it... getting outta here is too much work. Let's just go to sleep.

Let's get outta here!

Jack needs some sunglasses too!

Sooooooooooo, what are we doing? Just sitting in the snow?

Jack and Talulah enjoying our wonderful March weather!

It's bright out here, where are my sunglasses?

Crystal getting Jack and Talulah set up in their snow seats. We wanted to build a snowman, but it got colder and the snow wasn't sticky anymore. Next time the weather gets a bit warmer and the snow is sticky we'll get a snowman made!

Donovan, Talulah, Steve & Jack... hangin out after brunch.

Steve teaching the kids to play guitar!

Jack and his dad... jamming together.

"Watch Dad, I can do it!"

"Mmmm... I love getting kisses and chewing on my fingers!"
Later this same day we found TWO BOTTOM TEETH poking through Talulah's gums!

Donovan and Talulah, hanging out after an excellent brunch at Steve, Crystal and Jack's house!

Reading about Cows in the Kitchen.

Reading is SO MUCH FUN!!!
"Look at how good I am at holding this book up!"

When I went in to get Talulah from her morning nap I was surprised that I didn't find Talulah... but a mermaid instead!

Talulah loves bunny ears.

Jack LOVES bunny ears!

Breakfast with Grandma Gwen!

Talulah and Jack found some birthday hats at Ikea! Luckily their birthdays are only a day apart so they can enjoy their hats together every year.

Jack was so excited about his birthday hat that he wore himself out!

Okay, seriously... Isn't Talulah's boyfriend the most handsome little man?

Yumm, Winnie-The-Pooh books are tasty!

Talulah and Jack enjoying a lunch date at Ikea.

"That book looks fun Talulah, let me read it to you!"

Talulah and I like to spend time with Crystal and Jack. As some of you may know, Jack was born the day before Talulah so it's such a treat to see them together. Sometimes they're into the same things, sometimes they're exact opposites!

When we're in the car together and one of them yelps, Crystal and I frequently find ourselves saying, "Which one was that?"

Right now Jack is REALLY good at sitting on his own! It's amazing, you can just plop him down and he'll sit like it's no big deal. Talulah on the other hand... she's not so great at sitting. When we plop her down, she prefers to topple over onto her side so she can then get up on all fours and rock. She has no interest in sitting still and Jack's perfectly content hangin' out.

Today was Talulah's last swimming lesson at the Y. We had so much fun swimming with Julie and Alexis! Alexis is two and a half months older than Talulah and she LOVES the water. She splashes and splashes and squeaks and splashes... until she's sure that everyone around her is soaking wet! Talulah likes getting splashed by Alexis and also enjoys kicking her little legs like nobody's business! We didn't get to see Julie today, but it was a nice surprise to see Aunty Ashley swimming with Alexis instead!
Now we just need to find another swimming lesson to register for. We're on a wait list at one pool, so I think we'll have to check out some other options before we're too late for anything!

At least there's always Mom & Baby Aquacize... We've got a few of those classes lined up!
